Madison Marquette and Urban Atlantic are adapting the bucolic grounds of the historic Armed Forces Retirement Home into Hillstead, Washington, DC’s newest and largest mixed-use live, work, play and stay community.The project, located in the heart of the dynamic and fast-growing North Capital District, is at the confluence of the emerging neighborhoods of Brookland, Fort Totten and Petworth; Medstar Health Systems and Children’s Hospital; and the Catholic University, Howard University and Trinity Washington University campuses. Plans include seven distinct villages forming a close-knit, character-rich community, covering over 80-acres and totaling 4.7M square feet. Hillstead will include a curated mix of Class A office, residential townhomes and multifamily units, resort hospitality and 200,000 square feet of lifestyle retail.
